A Model Arises.....

Like everyone else and most models in the fashion industry, it

was never easy for a one Marsha Makatini to arise.With a huge

competition of girls with great statuesque, she sure had enough

bone structure to prove to the Ford Models scouts that she could

be among the Kenyan-born International rising models such as

Ajuma Nasenyana.

Her most great moments was when she got registered by Lyndsey McIntyre

of Surazuri Models a leading East-Africa model scout.Time wasnt clicking far,

cause the Ford Supermodel Search 2009 Kenya was nearby, and rightly so,

Marsha was called for Auditions and she managed to be the first finalist there.

The Ford Models round 2009 really boosted Marsha's modeling career to the

next level.

There wasn't more time to waste, the finals were held at Karen country Lodge,

whereby as a first-timer in the Catwalk Challenge she did well in the posing and

confident walk she gave the audience.

on November 20th 1986.

Lyndsey McIntyre of Surauri modeling agency, who immediately spotted her

international potential, believes that she could be the next big model in the fashion industry.

A woman with absolute natural beauty; her lovely short hair
highlighted on the Ford portfolio drew more emphasis to her strong big
dark eyes.

An aspiring model herself had her early training days with Africas
most known Surazuri Models, which is headed by Lyndsey McIntyre a Ford
Model license holder in Kenya.

Ajuma's own face brought out her natural elegance adding a simple yet
extra flair to her personality.Talking to journalists recently on Ford
Super Model Kenya launch, she described herself as ,"a humble woman
from a humble background'.

Simple yet sophisticated style is perhaps an understatement when it
comes to describing her looks and style.

She always has passionate and cleaner looks, but looks played with
colours too to add that extra glamour. But irrespective of that how
she manages to inject the right amount of fashion, continues to be her

own secret.

Incredibly, confidence and elegance are the most beautiful words that
comes to mind once Ajuma Nasenyana is thought of. Perhaps it's her
personality and calm elegance which she possessed during making of her
portfolio through the most competitive modeling scout, that made her
the most noted model of the time.

Its been more than a while now, and she is the now one of the called '
the rise of alternative fashion models' amongst supermodels Alek Wek,
Naomi Campbell and many more.

The Rising of Ajuma.

Like everyone else this Kenyan-born International rising model is
popularizing some of the most admired style statements of all the
times. Ajuma Nasenyana was born in Lodwar, Turkana District in Kenya
on August 18th 1984.The beauty's foray into the fashion world was
through Miss Tourism Kenya competition in 2003, at which she was
crowned Miss Nairobi.

She came to the attention of Lyndsey McIntyre of Surauri modeling
agency, who immediately spotted her international potential.

Sooner than imaginable she was signed in for Ford Models Supermodel of
the World competition.

She made modelling history when she became one of the first black model to
win a contract (worth US$ 50,000) in an international competition open
to all races, and from then on she has not looked back.

Internationally

Ajuma has been on the runways alongside supermodels Naomi Campbell and Alek Wek
for designers such as Baby Phat and Carlos Mienes.

She got an eye-catchy with leading British designer Vivian Westwood,
who made her the lead model in one of her shows.

She was also featured as one of the Victoria's Secret Angels, in their
2006 fashion show.

Now a famous model, she has continued with her hectic schedule and has
shot several magazine editorials, for instance a video for Lacoste and
a catalogue for Issey Miyake.

Currently she is signed with high-profile agencies such as, DNA Model
management, Ford Models, Models 1, Beatrice Models.

Other agencies include Surazuri Models, Group Models, 2pm Model
Management, and Wiener Models.
